Here’s a list of major developments by ISRO:

MOM (Mars Orbital Mission)

major developments by ISRO

ISRO launched the spacecraft on 5 November 2013 and it successfully entered the orbit of Mars on 24 September 2014. Consequently, this success made India the first country to enter Mars’ orbit in the first attempt. Moreover, India is the fourth country in the world to have a spacecraft in the orbit of Mars. Definitely, MOM ranks number 1 in the list of major developments by ISRO.

India is providing the cheapest space technology in the world and will lead the space industry in the near future.

PSLV-C37 / Cartosat -2 Series Satellite

India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its thirty-ninth flight (PSLV-C37), launched the 714 kg Cartosat-2 series satellite for earth observation and 103 co-passenger satellites. Moreover, total weight was about 663 kg at lift-off into a 505 km polar Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO).

The co-passenger satellites comprised of 101 nano satellites, one each from Kazakhstan, Israel, The Netherlands, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and 96 from United States of America (USA), as well as two Nano satellites from India. Moreover, the total weight of all these satellites carried onboard PSLV-C37 was about 1377 kg.

THIS BREAKS THE WORLD RECORD OF RUSSIA LAUNCHING 39 SATELLITES FROM A SINGLE ROCKET. FINALLY, ISRO HAS MADE INDIA PROUD. ADDITIONALLY, IT IS SHOWING THE WORLD THAT THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THE INDIANS.

IRNSS Satellite Navigation System

India is developing IRNSS which is an independent regional navigation satellite system. It is designed to provide accurate position information service to people in India and in a region extending up to 1500 km from its boundary. In addition, IRNSS will provide two types of services, namely, Standard Positioning Service (SPS) and Restricted Service (RS). Moreover, it is expected to provide a position accuracy of better than 20m in the primary service area.

Its main applications are:

Terrestrial, Aerial and Marine Navigation

  • Disaster Management
  • Vehicle tracking and fleet management
  • Integration with mobile phones
  • Precise Timing
  • Mapping and Geodetic data capture
  • Terrestrial navigation aid for hikers and travelers
  • Visual and voice navigation for drivers

As a matter of fact, ISRO on 1 July 2013, at 23:41 IST launched from Sriharikota IRNSS-1A.

CHANDRAYAN 1

It was India’s first mission to the moon.

The mission included a lunar orbiter and an impactor. India launched the spacecraft using a PSLV-XL rocket. Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee announced the project on course in his Independence Day speech on 15 August 2003. The mission was a major motivation to India’s space program, as India researched and developed its own technology in order to explore the Moon. Consequently, the vehicle was successfully inserted into lunar orbit on 8 November 2008.

The Chandrayaan-166 team was awarded the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics SPACE 2009 award. Furthermore, the International Lunar Exploration Working Group’s International Co-operation award in 2008, and the National Space Society‘s 2009 Space Pioneer Award .

We hope these major developments by ISRO inspire all the Indians.
