It also releases endorphins, the body’s natural pain relievers. Sex strengthens the muscles around the joints, which helps support them.” He adds “And it’s mood-elevating, which likewise helps alleviate pain.”

Exercise in general is good for lowering the blood pressure of a body. But women might have some extra benefits of being sexually active as orgasm stimulates the release of the Oxytocin hormone in women, which helps lower the blood pressure of the body.

There are many underlying health benefits of love making. When having sex, the body naturally releases neuropeptides known as endorphins. It is responsible for the feeling of excitement and satisfaction, hence making you feel less stressed.

“A man’s body chemistry changes after orgasm,” says David McKenzie, a Vancouver based sex therapist. According to him a biochemical called Prolactin is released in males after sex. This helps develop the feeling of fatigue in the body.

According to Donald Penzien, PhD., Director of the Head and Pain Clinic at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and a professor in the department of psychology , a possible explanation for this might be that the natural chemicals released during sex—like dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin—induce both pleasure-enhancing and pain-relieving sensations.

The study, from the University of Muenster, Germany, suggests that making love can be more effective than taking painkillers to cure headaches.

Their research, reported in Cephalalgia, the journal of the International Headache Society, found that more than half of migraine sufferers experienced relief after having sex during an episode. It suggest that it might be due to the release of endorphins, a natural painkiller in the body.
