We have always been taught that there are 24 hours in a day. But have you ever heard of a day with 23 hours or 25 hours in a day? USA and Canada are going to have 25 hours on 6th November, 2016. Sounds bizarre, doesn’t it? While we find this news fascinating, daylight saving time in USA and Canada is a common phenomenon. Not only do they have a day with 25 hours in it but also, they have a day with 23 hours in it.

Daylight Saving Time

Daylight saving time is the forwarding of the clock by 1 hour in order to increase the sunlight hours. This phenomenon is observed in a lot of parts of the world though, Asia and Africa do not observe this phenomenon.

On the start date of Daylight saving time, the clock is forwarded by 1 hour. This is also called as “Spring Forward”. While on the end date, the clock is reversed by 1 hour. This is also called as “Fall Back”.

George Hudson from New Zealand in 1895 proposed the idea of Daylight saving time. And the first ever daylight saving time phenomenon was implemented on 30th April 1916.

Daylight Saving Time in USA and Canada in 2016

The phenomenon of Daylight saving time in USA and Canada started on 13th March 2016 at 2 P.M. ESA. Clocks were forwarded by 1 hour as soon as it was 2 P.M.

The Daylight saving time in USA and Canada end date is on 6th November 2016 at 2 P.M. ESA. Clocks will be reversed by 1 hour as soon it is 2 P.M.
