(Indian Players To Watch Out For After IPL 2017) The Indian Premier League began with encouraging the rise of young Indian cricketers as one of its primary objectives. Till date, it continues doing so quite successfully. Over the years, we have seen players like Suresh Raina, Ravinder Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, and much more strengthen their position in Indian cricket through their IPL performances. This season had not been any different, and several young stars astonished us with their performance. It might not be long before we see some of them in our national team.
The following are some of the Indian Players to watch out for after IPL 2017!
1. Washington Sundar (Rising Pune Supergiants)
Sundar started off as a batsman for the U-19 Indian squad and went on to be one of the most successful all-rounders in the last season of IPL. A left-handed batsman as well as right-arm off spinner, he holds the record of having the best bowling record under his name in any IPL final. Although roped in as a substitute for Ashwin, Sundar proved his abilities and became an inevitable part of the RPSG team this season. We are definitely waiting to see more from this 17-year old guy.

2. Basil Thampi (Gujarat Lions)
The receiver of the ‘Emerging Player Award’ this season, Thampi had made his debut in first class cricket way back in February 2015, for Kerala. Best known for his marvelous Yorkers, Thampi’s bid went up to as high as 85 lakhs this season, and he had definitely succeeded to make a mark in his debut IPL season- more prominent than most other newcomers.

3. Rishabh Pant (Delhi Daredevils)
Having scored the fastest 50 in the history of U-19 ODIs, Pant had in him everything which is needed to become a devastating IPL batsman. And so he became. Bought by DD for a whopping amount of 1.9 crores, Pant emerged to be a nightmare for bowlers of all the other teams this season. Missing an IPL century by merely 3 runs, Pant’s game is as brilliant as it is beautiful. He also boasts of a strike rate above 150 this season, and I personally believe that he is here to be the next-gen masterstroke from the Indian batting line up. What’s more? He is also a promising wicketkeeper.

4. Rahul Tripathi (Rising Pune Supergiants)
This right-handed all-rounder, originally from Jharkhand, surprised us all with an astonishing strike rate in this season of the IPL. He was one of the most consistent Indian batsmen, with almost a century under his name. Surprisingly, he did not start off as an “aggressive batsman”, as mentioned by one of his former coaches. An emerging domestic player as well, he is reputed for his big hits. When Tripathi is batting, you better keep an eye on the boundary line! We believe that if his performance is consistent, he would soon adorn more important roles as a batsman.

6. Nitish Rana (Mumbai Indians)
Rana is a left-hand batsman, also serving as a right-arm off break bowler. He astonished us all with his performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2015-16 and continued to do so this IPL, with a large count of boundaries and over boundaries under his name. In a recent interview, Rana had revealed that Ricky Ponting is his cricketing role model. He plays domestic cricket for the squad of Delhi.

7. Kuldeep Yadav (Kolkata Knight Riders)
This one must be a well-known name for all the cricket lovers out there. He can be claimed to be the discovery by the U-19 World Cup, 2014, and is best known as a Chinaman bowler. One of the strengths of the KKR team this season, Yadav has recently made his debut for the Indian national team but has not been able to surprise us yet. However, given the skills he has already exhibited, we have our entire faith in him to go a long way.

8. Sandeep Sharma (Kings XI Punjab)
His emerging player days are way behind him, and he is well reputed to be one of the prominent faces to look out for in the KXIP squad every IPL since the last few years. A right-arm medium pacer, Sharma has been one of the few unflinching Indians who has been consistently reliable in multiple seasons of the IPL. His outstanding performance did earn him a place in the Indian national team, but he failed to impress as a part of the same. Nevertheless, with statistics like this, we are sure that the day is not very far when we see him adorn the much coveted blue jersey once again.
