The LinkedIn Co-founder, Mr. Ried Hoffman has joined Microsoft’s board of directors. Ried Hoffman, 49, is a partner at Silicon Valley venture capital firm Greylock Partners. He also serves on the boards of Edmodo, Convoy, and Blockstream. Hoffman made this big announcement in a LinkedIn’s post. As a Microsoft board member, Hoffman said his focus will remain on LinkedIn itself, while also working to help Microsoft build more connections in Silicon Valley. This new addition to the board of directors of Microsoft will make it a total of 12 members.
This move of Hoffman was quite predictable as Microsoft made a big deal with LinkedIn last year. Microsoft agreed to buy LinkedIn for $26.2 million in June last year. Moreover, with all the tie-ups going on between World’s two biggest online platforms, this joining doesn’t surprise us much.
“I’ve long admired Reid’s ability to identify disruptive technologies and the passion we share for how digital platforms can create a new opportunity for people around the world,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in a statement. Additionally, “As a board member, Reid’s leadership and strategic perspective will help chart the future of our company as we aim to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.”
Let’s see how much changes this new addition of the LinkedIn Co-founder to the Microsoft Board Of Directors is going to bring.
