(Must have Android apps for students) College life brings with it a sense of growing up. And it can be difficult. Many of us move to a different city, meet new people, learn new things, and, as a matter of fact, start a new life. Things can be initially confusing (as it was with me too), but eventually everything falls into place.
Since we all have our smartphones to get us through this, here are ten must have Android apps for students which can make our lives a lot easy, and organised!
1. Coursera
Coursera is an online platform where you can access hundreds of courses offered by several universities across the world. The courses are divided into categories like science, language, humanities, etc. and come with videos, presentations, and recommended readings designed specifically for this online platform. All the courses are free, but you need to pay a substantial amount to purchase the certificates (otherwise, you can view your progress only in the app/website). This app is useful to help you with your courses, or doing background researches, or even for just learning for fun. There is also an option to download the course material and study offline, at your own pace. This is one of the best apps I have used till date and very strongly recommend to everyone. Thus, it is on top of our list of must have Android apps for students.

2. Reverse Dictionary
How many times has it happened so, where you just knew what the word means, but could not manage to come up with the exact term. Equally frustrating and disheartening- this problem now has a solution, called the reverse dictionary which is at number 2 in the list of must have Android apps for students. Here, you can type out the definition or a rough meaning of what you’re looking for and the app would generate a list of probable words fitting your purpose. It has saved my day uncountable times and remains one of the most useful apps I carry around with me.

This app gives you step-by-step solution to mathematics problems ranging from arithmetic to algebra to trigonometry, and is also able to read your handwriting (as long as it is legible) and solve problems without you having to enter it. I’m telling you, you can thank me later!

4. RefME
Referencing can be a real headache for college students. I had to start writing papers in my very first semester, and had to make sure that the pages containing the references is absolutely perfect. That is when I turned to this app- RefME, (recently renamed as Cite This For Me) which made my life unthinkably easier. MLA, APA, Harvard- this app can help you out with all the commonly used referecing styles. Just enter the required information (from tha back of the book, basically) such as the name, the publisher, etc., and your job is done! For lazier people like me, there is also a handy option to scan the barcode of the book to get it referenced. You can create projects and store several references under them. This app is not just extremely useful, but also very user friendly.

Not everyday can we afford the luxury of ordering books via Amazon. For all such days, this app is there for us. BookChor is an app which lets you purchase second hand books at very reasonable prices and delivers them at your doorstep across the country. There are several offers and discounts available everyday to make the books even more affordable for us. What more, the packages come with a personalised message written for us and at times, small goodie bags too! Furthermore, they often come up with very interesting offers such as the ‘Blind Date With A Book’ which would definitely make any bibliophile drool! Therefore, it is on our list of must have Android apps for students at number 5.

6. LongShot
Every student knows the struggle of clicking screenshots of Wikipedia pages (and other websites) and deleting some 65 odd images after the assignment is done with. This is where this app comes to use. Using LongShot, you can screenshot pages at one go. In other words, instead of having seven screenshots from a website, you will now have only one, and all the information will be assembled at one place, without you having to frantically search which image out of the seven contains that one line you need to note down. Moreover, this app comes handy even for other purposes, such as taking screenshots of lengthy conversations, etc., and most importantly, saving your gallery from a lot of unnecessary clutter.

Completely free, this app can be great at helping you build your vocabulary. The lessons are divided into categories like ‘Food’, ‘Clothes’, etc. and navigating inside the app is fairly convenient. 9. Wunderlist
I have tried a large number of to-do apps and this one was definitely the best among the lot. Wunderlist, comparatively the most convenient among such apps, comes with a beautiful user interface and is linked to your Microsoft account. You can access it from your phone and laptop/desktop alike. You can create various lists, mark the important tasks separately, set reminders for tasks, as well as share your lists with other users. Also, if you’re using Wunderlist on your phone, it gives you the facility to add a very convenient home screen widget, which (trust me) makes things, and life, VERY easy. I would recommend this app to not just college students, but pretty much anyone!

At number 10 in our list of must have Android apps for students, we have Studious. Studious basically acts as your digital class planner. It makes all the important details neatly organised and the vibrant layout is visually very satisfying. This app can also be used to set alarms and reminders. Also, there is a feature where Studious automatically puts your phone on silent mode once you step into the class. Now, I don’t know any student who’d say no that!
