The Palais Galleria will be a permanent exhibition gallery with the help of the House of Chanel. On 2 March, 2017, the company partnered with the city of Paris to finance the construction of the permanent fashion museum. The new space will be named Salles Gabrielle Chanel or The Chanel Rooms. It is worth an estimated cost of $6 million.
The 7,211 square-feet space is located in the basement floor of the Palais. It will be open all-the-year round for the public. It will showcase a great journey through the history of fashion. From 18-century fashion to exquisite garments to the latest trend-setting styles.
The Palais is already known as the Paris Fashion Museum. The new title of “permanent” provides the weight to the institution and the city of Paris, which is revered as a major fashion capital.
“Paris is proud to be able to open this exceptional space. It is proving once again that it is the home of fashion”, the city’s mayor added.
Most noteworthy, the Palais Galleria is located in a wealthy district on the right bank of River Siene. The vicinity is prominent for holding major fashion week catwalks. The permanent exhibition hall will also have a learning workshop and a bookshop. While the ground floor will continue to display temporary exhibitions.
